Sprinkler Pipe Repair
Most lateral repairs run $250 to $400. Mainline repairs on 1 inch to 1.5 inch pipe run higher, and rock or root digging past six inches is billed hourly.
A wet spot that never dries, a zone that lost its pressure, or a bubble in the grass usually means a cracked line. We find the leak, cut out the bad section, and pressure test the repair.
- Leak located by inspection or pressure test
- Failed section cut out, six inches past the crack each way
- Schedule 40 couplings, primed and cemented
- Proper cure time before pressure
- Pressure test and backfill
Warranty: 30 days on our labor on the splice itself; adjacent old pipe is repaired at parts cost only within that window.
- Upfront pricing
- Written warranty
- Photo of every fix
- Fixed next day

How the visit goes
- Find the leakWe run the zone and read the ground. Where the water surfaces is not always where the pipe failed, so we probe and pressure test rather than dig on a guess.
- Open a clean windowA typical residential lateral sits about a foot down. We open just enough to work and set the sod aside to go back afterward.
- Cut out the damageWe remove at least six inches past the crack in each direction. Old pipe near a break is often stressed too, and cutting short is how repairs fail a month later.
- Prime, cement, cureNew Schedule 40 couplings go on with primer and cement, then we wait the cure time the manufacturer calls for. Skipping the wait is the most common mistake in a pipe splice.
- Pressure test and backfillThe zone runs under full pressure while we watch the joint. Only then does the dirt and sod go back.
Sprinkler Pipe Repair questions
How much does it cost to fix a sprinkler leak?
A typical lateral line repair runs $250 to $400 depending on depth and access. Mainline repairs on larger pipe cost more because the pipe, fittings, and pressure are all bigger. We price it on-site after we find the leak, before we cut.
How do you find a leak that is underground?
We start with the obvious signs, like a zone that lost pressure or ground that stays wet, then run the zone and probe the soil. If it is not clear, we isolate and pressure test sections until we find it. Finding it right is what keeps the dig small.
Why do sprinkler pipes crack in this area?
Blackland clay moves. It swells after a heavy rain and shrinks hard in a July drought, and that back-and-forth stresses PVC laterals and the glued joints, especially older pipe. Freezes finish off anything that was already weak.
Is the repair permanent?
The splice itself is solid and we cover our labor on it for 30 days. What we cannot promise is the condition of the old pipe on either side of it. If a second leak shows up within five feet in that first 30 days, we repair it for the cost of parts only.
Do you fix mainline leaks too?
Yes. The mainline is the pressurized pipe between the backflow assembly and the valves, and a leak there runs constantly rather than only when a zone is on. It is a higher-priority repair and we price it accordingly once we see the pipe size and depth.
What if there are roots or rock where the leak is?
Digging through tree roots or rock beyond about six inches takes real time, so that part is billed hourly and we tell you before we keep going. Most yards in the north Dallas suburbs are clay all the way down and do not run into it.
